A little bit of information for when your baby is born.

As the hospital does not inform the GP’s Surgery of the birth of a new baby, it is important that you note the following:

  • When you come home from hospital with your new baby please telephone the Surgery and let us know.
  • It is asked that all discharge paper work from the hospital is handed into the Surgery within 24 hours of hospital discharge.
  • It is also very important that you register the birth of your baby in the Town Hall Registry Office as early as possible.  When this happens you will be given the appropriate paper work to register your baby with the Practice.
  • Infant vaccines are commenced at 8 weeks, so it is important that the baby is properly registered with the Practice in good time to allow the Infant Health Service to schedule appointments in the surgery.
  • 6-8 week post natal check ups are offered for all new mums at our Friday morning Ante natal and Post natal Clinic.
